Kingdom Hall "sale" - new light!
by The Fall Guy inin a town called stevenston on the west coast of scotland, the kingdom hall was closed down approximately 6 months ago and the congregation (named kilbirnie) was assigned to use the kingdom hall of the nearby irvine congregation.. according to an ldc source at mill hill, the kilbirnie kh is scheduled for a refurbishment!
the org boots out the congregation and leaves their kh redundant for 6 months?????????
good planning, ldc.

Motherly Love, that "Unbreakable Bond"
by Simon inmy father died a couple of months ago.
he'd been ill for some time and had many health scares and heart troubles over the years but always managed to keep on going.
then one time he didn't.. i'm glad i got to know him again and spend some more time with him after so many years missed because of the wts but those years will always be lost forever.

Simon. i'm sorry to read you have lost both parents.
this shunning practice has many variables. i'm sure those that practice 100% shunning do it as a sort of unsuccessful control mechanism. my born in first wife is in that category. she shuns our son--because he left her religion simple as that. so--it hasnt worked for her. he's free of it--has a happy and successful life and new family. shes the misery. getting older by the day--70 next birthday. no doubt praying fervently for the end of this wicked system.
when my old dad--a more open minded sort of dub--died 2 years back--i was the one to organise his funeral.
after checking his will with our family solicitor--there was no mention of any specific funeral arrangements--i arranged a simple non-religious commital. no service--no prayers--no songs. and i certainly did not notify his former congregation. i did not want any involvement with those hypocrites.
he will live on in my memory--and when i'm gone--so will he.

Why is the finished mystery of 1917 so expensive compared to other JW books?
by blownaway ini see these on ebay from time to time and they go fro 150 to 200 dollars.
seems like a lot.
other old jw books go for much less.

Material such as the film at the end of this years convention confirms that I was right to take my kids out the religion
by jambon1 init’s quite affirming to see the horrific material that they’re serving up at the convention this year.
aside from blatant homophobia, the scenes at the end of the convention that are discussed on another thread stoop to new levels of fear mongering.
it seems to occur to nobody inside the organisation that this kind of material could trigger fear, deprsssion, anxiety, stress.

i think the jesus and archery bit is a bit far fetched....much more modern and realistic if he zapped them all with a death-ray.

Receiving so much hate recently....
by stuckinarut2 inwell, as you all know, my wife (unstuck) and i are not df or da.. we just stopped attending several years back after my "apostate" online activity was found by a nosey employee of ours while she was working in our office (long story if anyone wants to know - it would have to be another thread).
we never met with any elders - no congregation judicial activity occurred (as we would never consent to do so anyway).
so our policy has been to be the same kind, loving, normal people we have always been.

@stuck;
Yet another "brother" I was very close to (we helped them through really intense times in their lives
and did your help include money by any chance ? maybe you took away their lifestyle support system.

"World conditions have never been as bad as they are now"
by Sour Grapes ini went to a funeral yesterday and ran into a jdub.
of course, he approached me and it didn't take more than a minute into the conversation for him to get into the jdub gloom and doom mode.
he said that world conditions have never been as bad as they are now.. i looked straight into his eyes and said, "i think that world conditions were a lot worse during world war two.".

Consequences for having a non religious wedding ceraminy?
by Addison0998 inhey i was wondering if maybe someone who is an ex elder or who knows a lot about these things could help me.
my dad is an elder but i need to be cautious with questions i ask.
now that i’ve been woken up from my brainwashed love of this corrupt corporation and from my belief in the bible, and my fiancé is starting to wake up as well, i really don’t want to have the sexist, overused, impersonal talk outline used for my wedding ceremony by some elder who is trying to show off his talk giving skills.

Beliefs and life after disfellowshipped
by AlexPancho init is normal for a person to review their beliefs, especially after such a traumatic event as disfellowshipped.i think that many here do not believe that god is leading jehovah's witnesses.. someone does not believe in god at all.i think it is good when we can be free in our views, no matter how much they are, without the pressure from any organization that teaches us to "true" believe.so, now i read many books on the history of the bible text and found that there is no foundation to be sure that at least one true words after 500-year history of rewriting has reached us.
if you wont find more info about this - googledbart ehrman book or nestle-alland new testament, where every words have many variant.for start read thisi read grat biological works, as dawkins "great show on the earth" and other (into russian lang) and i do not have any reason believe into creation.but, i still belive ino any abstract god-like force, without any "book based" reason.what do you believe in today?
why?please do not condemn each other's faith - we have gone through a rather difficult path..
